Sade, Donatien-Alphonse-François, the Marquis of: After spending several years in the prisons of Vincennes and the Bastille, Donatien de Sade got involved in the Revolution, within the Piques section and wrote his most well-known novels, which would give him a reputation as a scandalous author. Imprisoned several times, he finished his life in the Charenton Mental Hospital.
