Marie-Antoinette of Habsburg-Lorraine: The youngest daughter of the Holy Roman Emperor Francis I and Maria Theresa of Austria, Marie-Antoinette became Queen of France in 1770. Nicknamed the “Austrian” or “Madame Deficit” and a subject of multiple rumors, she was quickly named responsible for the kingdom’s crisis. She responded by firmly opposing the Revolution as of the summer of 1789. Targeted by most revolutionaries, she was executed on October 16, 1793.
