Grégoire, Henri-Jean-Baptiste, otherwise known as Father: A supporter of ending discrimination against Jews, as well as the abolition of slavery, this priest became a deputy and the bishop of Blois. According to him, the Church needed to be in service of the public. Persuaded that a national education and a common culture were the best tools for equality, he then defended expanding the French language throughout the country and replacing dialects and regional languages.
