Bertier de Sauvigny, Louis-Bénigne-François: A former intendant for the généralité of Paris, responsible for the bloody repression of the bread riots in 1775, Bertier de Sauvigny was in charge of food provisions for Parisians and the troops that camped around the city in 1789. Accused of wanting to starve the people, he was arrested in Compiègne, brought back to Paris and then hung on the Place de Grève on July 22, 1789, right after his son-in-law Foulon.
