Roland, Jeanne-Marie Phlipon, otherwise known as Madame: From Lyon, Madame Roland became one of the most influential women in the Revolution when she moved to Paris with her husband in 1791. Close to the Girondins leaders, she played a role in the rise of a moderate Republican culture. She was executed on November 8, 1793, a week before the Girondins’ trial.
