Robespierre, Maximilien de: Elected to the third estates of Arras and a deputy in the Constituent Assembly, Robespierre established himself as one of the most influential and charismatic revolutionaries. As a member of the Committee for Public Safety, he contributed to the creation of the revolutionary government based on the “Terror” and a State of Emergency. Having become a symbol of political repression, Robespierre was executed on July 28, 1794.
