Pierre Augustin Caron de Beaumarchais (1732-1799), Right Profile in a Medallion

Beaumarchais, Pierre-Augustin Caron de: A famous theatrical playwright, as well as a speculator and a secret agent under the Ancien Régime, Beaumarchais was paradoxically seen as one of the precursors of the Revolution as of 1789. Declared an anti-revolutionary, he was imprisoned, but then exiled to Hamburg. Having returned to France in 1796, he died three years later.
