Lenoir, Alexandre: In 1791, this art connoisseur was in put charge of amassing artworks from religious buildings as well as palaces and aristocratic mansions inside the former Reformed Augustinian monastery across from the Louvre in order to save them from destruction. In 1795, the warehouse of the Reformed Augustinians became the Museum of French Monuments and he was named its conservator.
