Lakanal, Joseph: Elected deputy in 1792, this former priest and professor of logic got involved with the reform on scientific institutions and public education. On June 26, 1793, it was he who presented one of the projects on national education, from which the current French system was derived. Moreover, he also participated in the creation of primary schools as well as public higher education establishments in charge of teaching Republican values.
