Claire Lacombe (1765-1798) or The Club of Women Patriots

Lacombe, Claire: A former actress in Marseille and Lyon, Claire Lacombe got fought alongside other revolutionary women on the Paris barricades starting in the summer of 1789. A friend of the radical Cordeliers Club, along with Pauline Léon, she founded the Women’s Revolutionary Republican Club: a women’s-only political group, in favor of a democratic and social republic. After being imprisoned in 1794 and 1795, she returned to acting in Nantes before coming back to Paris.
