Joly, Étienne de: A member of the General Assembly representing the Commune of Paris, this attorney was a supporter of the Revolution. It was in his home in October 1789 where free people of color from the colonies gathered together in order to demand the same rights as white people. He was then named Minister of the Interior in July 1792, before becoming Louis XVI’s last Minister of Justice.
