Clavière, Étienne: After having participated in a revolution attempt in the city of Geneva in 1782, he took refuge in France. A friend of Jean-Pierre Brissot, this banker got involved in the French Revolution and became the Minister of Finance. Arrested with the Girondins, he escaped the trial, but ultimately committed suicide in his cell on December 8, 1793.
