Portrait of François-Joseph Talma (1763-1826), Tragedian

Talma, François: A member of the Comédie-Française, he became a figure of the Revolution as of 1789, when he accepted to play the role of the king in Charles IX. Written by Chénier, this play was seen as a disguised attack against Louis XVI and caused quite a scandal.
